Three cheers for Hunt’s article. As a recording engineer for 15 years, I know all too well how today’s record production technology has overshadowed vocal performance.
The majority of R&B; record buyers seem more turned on by loud drum machines than the sweet soul of the likes of Sam Cooke or Jackie Wilson. It’s a sad commentary on our musical tastes.
