Assessing the Record of Irvine Mayor Agran
- Share via
It’s about time that The Times gave Irvine Mayor Larry Agran some ink for Orange County to know more about him, his philosophy and politics (“Irvine Mayor an Anomaly in Republican Heartland,” July 10).
His rise in a Republican preserve is not anomaly nor a fluke. It is an eye-opening testimony of today’s classy, sophisticated, well-informed and self-respecting electorates of Irvine, Republicans and Democrats alike. They are now questioning motives, intents, rhetorical hocus-pocus, and, above all, examining the candidates’ self-serving interest with an eye as to who is supporting them: builders, homeless, white collars, skinheads, etc.
Close scrutiny will rule in future elections in other parts of Orange County.
