Commercial Scene : 11-Story Office Tower Completed in Pasadena

Construction is complete on the $23-million Lake/Corson Building, an 11-story office tower on the southwest corner of Lake Avenue and Corson Street in Pasadena.
Designed by Los Angeles-based Langdon Wilson Mumper, the 219,490-square-foot building is sheathed with rose-colored granite accented with squares of gray granite. A stepped-back exterior provides 12 corner offices on each floor and the two-story lobby features an all-glass wall that extends from floor to ceiling.
Most of the construction materials are American-made by directive of the building’s owner and exclusive leasing agent, Pasadena-based Operating Engineers Pension Trust Fund. The fund is a supporter of the “buy American” theme, according to Burbank-based McCormick Construction, the building’s general contractor.
The building is about 15% leased, and negotiations with other prospective tenants are under way.
