The Los Angeles Police Department arrested 94 alleged gang members this weekend in its fourth and reportedly “best” anti-gang sweep in the San Fernando Valley, a spokesman said.
The law-enforcement effort, known as Operation Hammer and involving about 146 officers, began Friday night with 131 arrests--48 of which involved alleged gang members. Another 136 arrests were made between Saturday night and early Sunday, including 46 alleged gang members.
“Of the four previous task forces, this was the best,” Sgt. John Staugaard said Sunday.
