Not Guilty Plea Made in Death-Threat Case

A woman accused of sending more than 5,000 written death threats to actor Michael J. Fox pleaded not guilty Monday to five counts of making terrorist threats.

Tina Marie Ledbetter, 26, a Westlake Village shipping clerk, denied the charges at her arraignment in Los Angeles Superior Court and was ordered to remain in custody without bail. Making a terrorist threat is punishable by up to three years in state prison.

Ledbetter is scheduled to return to court Aug. 18, when evaluations of her by two court-appointed psychiatrists are expected to be completed. The evaluations were requested by Ledbetter’s attorney.

She is accused of sending more than 5,000 written death threats to Fox starting in February, 1988, because she was upset that Fox had married actress Tracy Pollan, a co-star of “Family Ties.”
