THE SIDELINES : Detroit Yacht Named Race Winner

MACKINAC ISLAND, Mich. — Renegade of Detroit’s Bayview Yacht Club was the overall winner on handicap of the 82nd annual Chicago to Mackinac Island yacht race, officials said today.
The 50-foot boat finished the race fourth at 7:16 a.m. EDT Tuesday but claimed first prize in International Offshore Rule One on handicap. Renegade, owned by Kenneth Meade, had a corrected time of 57 hours, 14 minutes, 12 second, race spokeswoman Michael Roche said.
Windancer, which finished at 10:06 a.m. Tuesday, was second with a corrected time of 59:30:26, and American Eagle, which finished at 10:01 a.m. Tuesday, was third with a corrected time of 59:41:03, Roche said.
