An Upland man died early today after his motorcycle struck the rear of a car on the Garden Grove Freeway west of Euclid Avenue, the California Highway Patrol said.
Thomas Verga, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene when officers arrived about 2:30 a.m., said Officer Leslie Lazo. Investigators estimated that Verga was traveling about 80 m.p.h. when his motorcycle struck the car, she said. The driver of the car, Larry Joel Dean, 48, of Mira Loma, was not injured.
The Highway Patrol closed the freeway for about two hours to remove debris, Lazo said.
