The truck was seen traveling at a high speed along Barranca near Von Karman Avenue at 1:45 a.m. when it swerved and hit a pole inside the parkway’s median, police said. The driver, who died, was trapped for 20 minutes before paramedics were able to free him.
The driver’s name was withheld until relatives could be notified. The passengers, Gerold W. Fitzgerald, 22, and Douglas C. Moore, 22, suffered moderate injuries.
