Build a Sandcastle at State Beach

The Sandcastle competition--in which participants build sandcastles--will be staged Aug. 5, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at State Beach, north of the Santa Monica Pier.
Proceeds will benefit the Landworth Memorial Scholarship Fund under sponsorship of Associate members of the American Institute of Architects, Los Angeles chapter.
Inaugurated in 1981, the competition attracted 220 participants last year. USG Interiors is the general sponsor of the competition.
