Baseball Commissioner Bart Giamatti said there are no plans to seek a negotiated settlement with Pete Rose over allegations that the Cincinnati Red manager bet on baseball games.
Rose has sued Giamatti, charging the commissioner had prejudged the case, which made an impartial hearing impossible.
The case is tied up in the Ohio courts and an injunction has temporarily blocked Giamatti from holding the hearing.
