Car Rolls Over, Kills Man in His Driveway

A 70-year-old Van Nuys man was found dead on his driveway early Thursday, apparently crushed to death when his car rolled down an incline and over him, the Los Angeles police reported.

The victim, whose name was not released pending notification of his family, was found by a neighbor at 1 a.m. on his driveway in the 8100 block of Allott Avenue, police said.

The death was being investigated as an accident. Police said it appeared that the man had parked the station wagon in his garage, but forgot to put it in gear or set the emergency brake. After he got out, the car began to roll down a slight incline in the driveway. The man apparently tried to stop it, but was run over, police said.
