A Manila station that packed nearly an hour’s worth of commercials around a 91-second boxing telecast has been fined $11,600 for airing too many advertisements, a broadcasters’ group said.
The Philippine Broadcasters’ Assn. levied the fine against station ABS-CBN after a public outcry over the large number volume of commercials during the bout between heavyweight boxers Mike Tyson and Michael Spinks in June 1988.
