ALBANY, Ga. — Six people were killed Wednesday when a twin-engine plane crashed on takeoff, barely getting aloft before tumbling to the ground and exploding in flames, authorities said.
The Beechcraft Queen Air BE-80 was bound for Akron, Ohio, according to William Hoefer, an air traffic controller at Southwest Georgia Regional Airport.
The plane had climbed about 10 feet off the ground when its right engine caught fire, witnesses said.
