Kemp Niver, whose lifelong work has been dedicated to the restoration and appreciation of historic film, has donated his collection of books, periodicals and rare documents on early film history to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Margaret Herrick Library. The collection includes hundreds of biographical and historical reference books on the pioneers of cinema and the motion picture industry, especially the period 1890-1920. There are also rare periodicals and magazines, including the first volume of Moving Picture World, dated 1907, the industry’s first trade publication.
