CHICAGO — Sears, Roebuck & Co. has notified 120 clerical employees in its catalogue division that they will be laid off Aug. 31 as part of the retailer’s restructuring program, a company spokesman said today.
Sears had indicated in late June that clerical workers would be laid off throughout the company’s Merchandise Group.
The clerical employees laid off are from the catalogue division’s advertising, marketing and buying departments, said spokesman Cathy Gucfa. Another 330 clerical workers were offered a chance to move to the division’s new headquarters in Skokie, Ill., she said.
