ON THE SIDELINES : Gervin Faces Marijuana Count

SAN ANTONIO, Tex. — Former San Antonio Spurs basketball star George Gervin was arrested early today on charges of driving while intoxicated and possession of marijuana, authorities said.
Bexar County sheriff’s officials said the 37-year-old former NBA All-Star was released this morning on a personal recognizance bond.
Although Gervin tested only 0.03% for blood-alcohol content at the San Antonio Police Department and the state’s definition of intoxication is 0.10%, a sheriff’s deputy said Gervin failed a visual dexterity field test, according to the San Antonio Express-News.
Authorities said Gervin was arrested after Deputy Chris Burchell spotted his black 1985 Porsche 911S weaving on Interstate 410.
Although Gervin passed the alcohol test, Burchell reported that he refused to allow his blood to be tested.
Officials told the newspaper that less than two ounces of marijuana was found in the front and rear consoles of the car.
