ON THE SIDELINES : Tyson Fined $300 for Speeding

From Times wire services

Heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson paid $300 in fines and agreed to conduct three youth clinics after pleading guilty today to two speeding incidents in Albany this spring.

Appearing with boxing promoter Don King in Albany Traffic Court, Tyson was fined $100 for a speeding incident on April 27 when he raced his 1989 Lamborghini with another car. Police clocked Tyson going 71 m.p.h. in a 30-m.p.h. zone.

Judge Stephen Safranko also ordered Tyson to conduct two clinics at the Arbor Hill Community Center within 60 days.

For the second speeding incident, which occurred in Albany nine days later, Tyson was fined $200 and ordered to conduct one youth clinic for the Albany Parks Department. Authorities said Tyson got that ticket while going at an “imprudent speed” in a 30 m.p.h. zone while again racing another vehicle.
