Pro Stars Charity Basketball Game Is Scheduled Aug. 18 at Bren Center

The third Pro Stars charity basketball game will be held Aug. 18 at UC Irvine as part of a weekend of activities to raise money for the Byron Scott Children’s Fund.
The game will feature Scott and other National Basketball Assn. players. Tickets are $17 at the Bren Center and Ticketron outlets.
Also benefitting the children’s fund will be a golf tournament at the Mesa Verde golf course in Costa Mesa and a tennis tournament at the Newport Marriott. There is a $60 entry fee for the golf tournament and $100 for the tennis tournament.
All events will be capped by a banquet and auction on Aug. 19 at 6:30 p.m.

A sportfishing tournament will be held Aug. 18-19 with proceeds to benefit the American Cancer Society.
The competition will be to catch and release marlin in the shortest time possible. The tournament boundary is a 70-mile radius from Avalon on Catalina Island.
There is a $275 entry team per boat team. It includes the kickoff barbecue Aug. 16 and the awards banquet Aug. 20.

The 13th Chamber golf tournament will be held Monday at the Seacliff Country Club, with the proceeds to help fund scholarships for graduates of Huntington Beach high schools.
The double-shotgun tournament begins at 7 a.m. and 1 p.m., with registration at 6:15 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.
