Norway Oil Slick Begins to Break Up

OSLO, Norway — A 38-square-mile oil slick around Norway’s huge North Sea Statfjord field has begun to break up and officials said Friday there appeared to be little danger of environmental damage.
A spokesman for Norway’s State Pollution Board said the slick, first discovered late Wednesday, was unlikely to reach land, but aerial observation would continue.
