Softball Roundup : Batbusters Win Twice, Reach Semifinals

The Orange County Batbusters moved into the semifinals of the American Softball Assn. 16-and-under national championships at Midland, Tex., with two victories Saturday.
The Batbusters defeated The Blue Angels of Pennsylvania, 9-0, in the first game, then the Sacramento Breeze, 13-1, in the second game.
Rae Rice of Fountain Valley High School pitched a three-hitter with 13 strikeouts against the Blue Angels. The offense was supplied by Jennifer Brundage of Irvine (two triples, a double, single and four RBIs) and Senetha Thomas of Canyon High School (double, triple and one RBI).
Cheryl Longeway of Kennedy High School allowed three hits over four innings against Sacramento. Brundage had two hits and Thomas had a double as the Batbusters had 13 hits.
In the ASA 19-and-under national championships in Sioux Falls, S.D.:
Orange County Ballhawks 2, Washington Diamonds Queens (16 innings)--Keri Lucas of El Dorado singled to open the 16th, Linda Lunceford of Trabuco Hills singled her to third and both scored on a single by Lisa Sciarrino of Western. Pam Barr of Diamond Bar pitched all 16 innings for the victory. The Ballhawks lost to Sioux Falls, 2-1, earlier in the day to fall into the losers’ bracket.
