Ivana Trump Sees Red, Seeks Plenty of Green Over Lipstick

NEW YORK — “Ivana” has Ivana Trump seeing red, and the wife of Donald Trump is claiming that the lipstick is trading on her name.
Ivana Trump, who runs the Plaza Hotel for her husband, has a name that has “become synonymous with the very best, regardless of the project or activity,” according to a $10-million lawsuit filed Monday in federal court.
Pavion, a Nyack, N.J.-based cosmetics company, began selling Ivana lipstick in March. Stanley Ackers, the company’s president, said he did not have Ivana Trump in mind and did not name the lipstick after anyone in particular.
According to the lawsuit, Pavion tried “to mislead the trade and the public into believing that (Mrs.) Trump has either approved or sponsored the goods.”
Trump has fought several similar court battles.
In June, he won a court order barring the Washington-based International Trading and Finance Co. from calling its moving and storage subsidiary Trump Shuttle--a name Trump used weeks later when he bought the Eastern Shuttle.
