Father Eugene O’Malley, 84, a Roman Catholic priest who inspired the character of the same name played by Bing Crosby in the movies “The Bells of St. Mary’s” and “Going My Way.” The real-life O’Malley, like his screen counterpart, was musically inclined, directing the Paulist Choir at Chicago’s Old St. Mary’s Church for more than 40 years.
