JERUSALEM — Former Prime Minister Menachem Begin was hospitalized today after complaining of fatigue.
Dr. Jonathan Halevy, director general at Jerusalem’s Shaarei Tzedak Hospital, said Begin, who turned 76 Saturday, will be hospitalized for “a day or two.”
“He complained for the last few days about some fatigue but nothing specific,” Halevy said. He said initial tests found nothing wrong.
Begin, the former leader of Israel’s right-wing Likud bloc, was criticized after Israel’s 1982 invasion of Lebanon. He resigned without warning in September, 1983, shortly after the death of his wife and has lived in seclusion in Jerusalem since then.
