Astros Win U.S. Open Consolation Title

Dave Ravitz’s run-scoring double highlighted a four-run third inning Tuesday as the Woodland Hills Astros defeated Mexico, 9-2, to win the consolation championship of the 18-team U. S. Open semipro baseball tournament in Ontario.
Left-hander Kelly Maebe (2-0) yielded one run and scattered seven hits in eight innings to earn the win. Jeff Bodeau, a 1988 graduate of Saugus High, pitched an inning in relief.
Billy Morris from Pierce College was one for three and scored three runs for the Astros (34-10). Dave Tokheim was one for three and had two sacrifice flies.
