The driver of a car speeding on the Antelope Valley Freeway in Newhall was killed Wednesday in a fiery crash when the car hit a guard rail, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The identity of the driver, who was burned beyond recognition and was believed to be about 40, has not been determined, said Bob Dambacher, spokesman for the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office.
The car had been driving north at an estimated 90 m.p.h. when it went out of control and struck the center divider about 1:30 a.m. near Placerita Canyon Road, Officer Ralph lvira said. The car then crossed the northbound lanes, hit the guard rail at the shoulder, overturned, and burst into flames.
