Puffy Doodle Wins Arlington Feature

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. — Puffy Doodle, a 9-1 shot, beat favorite Launch Light Tek by 2 1/2 lengths Wednesday to capture the $53,-050 Palatine Breeders Cup Stakes at Arlington International Racecourse.
Puffy Doodle, ridden by Kerwin Clark finished the 6 1/2-furlong race for 2-year-old fillies in 1:20. She paid $20.80, $4.20 and $2.80.
Previously unbeaten Launch Light Tek paid $2.40 and $2.20.
Urbanette finished a non-threatening third and paid $2.40.
Puffy Doodle earned $32,280 for owner Gerald W. Chianelli of Burr Ridge.
In other news at Arlington, the trainer of Blushing Groom said the $-year-old colt will not run in the Arlington Million on Sept. 3.
Blushing Groom was the strong favorite but finished last in Saturday’s Arlington handicap.
“He will not run anymore over grass during his career,” trainer Richard Lundy said.
