The Afghan government and rebels marked the 70th anniversary of Afghanistan’s independence by exchanging rocket and missile fire. About a dozen rebel rockets hit Kabul, the capital, wounding at least 10 people. Government forces fired rockets and missiles at suspected rebel positions in surrounding mountains. Afghanistan declared its independence in 1919 in a treaty ending the third Anglo-Afghan war.
