Three Northern California NBC affiliates have asked the TV network to allow them to conduct a test that would move up prime time by one hour. The test would have prime-time programming starting at 7 p.m. instead of 8 at KRON in San Francisco, KCRA in Sacramento and KSBW in Salinas. The network will decide after Labor Day if the three affiliates will be allowed to test the new prime-time shift beginning Oct. 30. This is the latest twist in an ongoing dialogue between NBC and several West Coast affiliates over whether prime time should be advanced for Pacific Time Zone stations. The stations maintain that it would boost their prime-time ratings and increase viewers to their newscasts as well.
