Defendant Denies Fatal Stabbing in Park

A Mexican citizen pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges related to the stabbing death of a man in Balboa Park this month.
Javier Garcia Gutierrez, 19, is scheduled to go to trial Oct. 6 in the July 5 slaying and armed robbery of Franklin James Black, 33.
Garcia, who is being held in County Jail on $500,000 bail, was arrested in the park along with five other undocumented aliens, police said.
