A hearing date for four county Fire Department aides arrested in connection with the weekend beating of a West Hollywood man was set for Sept. 6, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s officials said Wednesday.
Timothy Wendorff, 21; Kevin Hackett, 25; Vince Vitale, 23, and Kelly Meier, 20, were arrested for investigation of felony assault in the incident in which Gene Lawrence Branum, 43, suffered a broken arm. The incident allegedly occurred near a parking lot on Santa Monica Boulevard, Sheriff’s Sgt. Terry Judge said.
The suspects are temporary Fire Department employees whose work involves clearing brush and assisting fire fighters. They were released Monday in lieu of $6,000 bail.
