THE SIDELINES : Cleveland Tops Seattle, 5 to 2; 8th Straight Defeat for Mariners

CLEVELAND — The Seattle Mariners, sold earlier this week, lost their eighth straight game today, 5-2, to the Cleveland Indians as Brad Komminsk had two doubles and a triple.
Prior to sweeping the three-game series with Seattle, the Indians had lost eight of nine.
Steve Davis, 1-0, allowed two runs, one earned, and five hits in five innings. The lefthander, who made eight relief appearances in an earlier stint with Cleveland this season, was recalled on Wednesday from Class AAA Colorado Springs.
Rookie Steve Olin allowed no runs and three hits in 3 1/3 innings and Doug Jones got the last two outs for his league-leading 30th save.
