Collins Food International Inc.: The Los Angeles-based firm, which operates and franchises some Sizzler and Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants, reported first-quarter profit of $7.8 million, up 4% over a year ago. Sales totaled $131 million, about the same as last year. The results reflected progress in both Sizzler and International divisions. However, the Kentucky Fried Chicken division, which continues to feel the effects of high chicken prices, experienced substantially lower operating income on revenue that was virtually the same as in the prior year.
