Hsu Ming-Lan pitched a three-hitter and a Taiwanese team made the World Series championship game for the fourth consecutive year when Kaohsiung trounced Maracaibo.
Hsu struck out eight without a walk and held the Latin American champion hitless until Johnny Gonzalez lined a single to right-center with one out in the fifth inning.
Taiwainese teams have won the last three World Series, and Far Eastern teams have won 18 of the last 22. Kaohsiung won the championship in its previous two appearances, in 1974 and 1977.
Lee and Tseng Hsin-Lung hit three-run homers and Yeh Chen-Lung hit a solo shot.
