MONTEBELLO — The City Council has unanimously adopted a $58,250,073 budget for fiscal year 1989-90, City Administrator Richard Torres said.
Assistant Finance Director Chickwan Tam said the new budget reflects a 7% increase over last year’s $54,438,743 budget.
No cuts were made, but three officers were added to the Police Department’s allotment. Torres said a narcotics officer and a juvenile detective will be hired and their salaries will be funded by money seized in drug raids. The combined salaries of these two positions is $172,000. An intelligence officer also will be added; his $80,000 salary will come out of the general fund, Torres said.
Torres said revenues exceeded expenditures by $400,000 for the fiscal year ended June 30.
