Wal-Mart Plans 2nd California Store: Wal-Mart, the discount department store, said it plans to build its second store in California. The store, planned for Hanford in the central part of the state, will provide 245 jobs when it opens, according to a news release from the company’s headquarters in Bentonville, Ark. Wal-Mart announced plans last month to build its first California store in Madera. Construction will begin next spring. Wal-Mart, the nation’s third-largest retailer behind Sears and K mart, has more than 1,300 stores in 25 states.
