Compton : Teacher Union Talks Fail to Close 6% Gap in Pay Offers
- Share via
Teacher union leaders said that talks with the Compton Unified School District have failed to break an impasse, with two weeks remaining until the start of the new school year.
Wiley Jones, executive director of the teachers’ Compton Education Assn., said union leaders met for an hour Tuesday with district administrators, yet remain “light years apart” on key issues. He said there is a 6% gap between the district’s salary increase offer and the amount demanded by the teachers.
Both sides are hoping to sign an agreement before school starts Sept. 11.
