Malibu : Coast Panelist Reappointed

Madelyn Glickfeld, a staunch environmentalist and longtime Malibu resident, was reappointed this week to another two-year term on the 13-member California Coastal Commission.
Glickfeld, president of a planning consulting firm, was an alternate on the commission until she was appointed to the state panel in 1987 by the Senate Rules Committee. She replaced Duane Garrett, who resigned to serve as national chairman for the presidential campaign of former Arizona Gov. Bruce Babbitt.
Glickfeld, 40, served three years as a board member of the Malibu Township Council, the largest political group in the coastal community. She also works as a program coordinator for the UCLA Extension Public Policy Program.
“I’m excited to have the opportunity to work on behalf of the people of California to protect the coastline,” she said. “I hope we’re able to beef up the commission’s coastal enforcement program and to protect the state’s coastal resources from oil spills.”
