In a meeting held before the Grand Prix meet in Monte Carlo, representatives of many of the world’s top track and field stars formed the International Assn. of Athlete Representatives, aimed at giving the athletes freedom to run their affairs.
In a 10-point declaration, the IAAR said it wanted to “protect the rights of athletes to compete and to earn compensation in a free and open market . . . without restriction.”
