THE SIDELINES : U.S. Rower Gets 2nd Finals Berth

BLED, Yugoslavia — American rower Kris Karlson picked up her second finals berth today when she won her semifinal in the lightweight sculls at the World Rowing Championships.
The 25-year-old from Weston, Conn., looked untroubled as she led from start to finish in the race.
She will double with Carey Beth Cands of North Reading, Mass., in the lightweight double sculls final Sunday.
