UAL to Pay Group if Deal Crumbles: UAL Corp., the parent of United Airlines, said it would pay an employee buyout group up to $80 million if the acquisition falls through. Meanwhile, the buyout group, led by United’s pilots and its management, began its $6.75-billion, or $300-a-share, tender offer for the airline. UAL agreed to pay the employee-management group up to $120 million for its takeover-related expenses.
