An El Paso Cathedral High School football player died nearly a week after collapsing at halftime during a game against Parkland, hospital officials said.
Sean Moran, 17, a senior running back and linebacker, died at William Beaumont Army Medical Center, where he had been undergoing surgery to relieve pressure on his brain, a hospital spokesman said.
Moran showed no signs of injury in the first half of the game. But doctors told Cathedral Principal Rev. Steve Furches that Moran’s brain looked like it had sustained injuries from “a fall from a three-story building.”
