Costa Mesa’s South Coast Repertory is seeking unproduced new scripts for its second annual California Playwrights Competition and Play Festival next spring.
The contest, open to California residents, has a top prize of $5,000 and runner-up prizes of $3,000 and $2,000. The winning script may also be chosen for production on SCR’s Second Stage next May.
Deadline for script submissions is Nov. 15. Writers need to include a cast list, a 300-word play synopsis and a brief biography. Large-scale musicals, children’s plays, translations and foreign-language plays will not be considered. Winners will be announced Jan. 30.
