National Medical Enterprises Inc.: The Los Angeles-based hospital management and health-care services concern said first-quarter profit of $50 million was up 22% from a year ago. Revenue rose to $996.3 million, up 17%. The company said its psychiatric and physical rehabilitation specialty hospitals had especially strong earnings, contributing 56% of overall operating profit.
