NWA Joins Fare Increase: Northwest Airlines became the last major U.S. airline to raise discount fares in response to the fare increase announced by American Airlines last week. One by one, all of the other carriers have matched American’s fares, which go into effect Friday. The new prices are for seven-day and 14-day advance purchase tickets. The cancellation penalty on seven-day tickets will double to 50%. The 14-day tickets will remain non-refundable.
