Venice 27, Monroe 6--Mark Walker rushed for 141 yards, including a 33-yard touchdown run, in 14 carries to lead visiting Venice to its third consecutive win. Venice (3-0) jumped ahead, 21-0, in the first half on a 10-yard run by quarterback Louis Jones, a five-yard pass from Jones to Mariano Pacleb and Walker’s 33-yard scoring run.
Monroe (0-2) scored in the third quarter when safety Jesse Wallace intercepted a pass and returned it 69 yards for a touchdown. Wallace, a quarterback, also led Monroe’s rushing attack with 56 yards in 21 carries.
Venice added its final touchdown in the fourth quarter on Aaron Bolden’s six-yard run. Monroe didn’t complete a pass in five attempts.
