Rookie Cogsville Leads Sockers

Don Cogsville, the first-round draft pick from North Carolina, and Branko Segota each scored to lead the Sockers over San Diego State, 2-0, in an outdoor exhibition match Sunday.
Zoltan Toth and Victor Nogueira split time in goal for the shutout.
Attendance was 2,154. Proceeds are to benefit the Kaz Deyna memorial fund and Aztec soccer.
WATER POLO
No. 9 UC San Diego dropped its third game in as many days, 13-9 to No. 2 UC Irvine (10-1). UCSD (10-8) also lost to No. 4 Pepperdine and No. 6 Cal State Long Beach over the weekend.
In the Irvine game, played at UCSD, Jason Brown, Todd Sells and Peter McConville scored two goals each for UCSD.
GOLF
San Diego State tied for 10th with New Mexico State and Texas Tech at 896 in the sixth New Mexico State tournament.
Nevada-Las Vegas finished first with 872. Wayne Kumagai was SDSU’s low golfer, finishing in a four-way tie for 20th at 222.
