UCSD Falls to USC in Water Polo, 13-9

USC’s water polo team, ranked seventh in the nation, defeated the eighth-ranked team from UC San Diego, 13-9, Wednesday at UCSD’s Canyonview Pool.
UCSD’s Peter McConville led all scorers with four goals. Danny Layson scored three for USC (5-5). UCSD fell to 10-10.
SOCCER
The University of San Diego won its sixth match in a row, shutting out visiting Cal State Los Angeles, 2-0.
Vince Bianchi and Leo Ronces scored the goals and sophomore goalie Doug Wedge recorded his third consecutive shutout. Wedge has not allowed a goal in over 345 minutes.
The U.S. International women’s soocer team defeated visiting Cal Lutheran, 2-0. Nicky Roche scored in the first half and Kelly Pietila in the second for USIU (4-7).
Goalie Jennifer Swanson had five saves in her second shutout of the season. Cal Lutheran is 3-5.
San Diego State (2-3) got a lone goal from Suzie O’Grady in losing to UCLA (2-0-1), 3-1.
