Slain Woman Found in Burning Apartment

The body of a 39-year-old woman was found Saturday by firefighters responding to reports of a blaze in her Van Nuys apartment.
The shooting victim, Carol Ann Hix, was found shortly after 3 p.m. in a complex in the 15800 block of Vanowen Street, Los Angeles Police Detective Paul Stewart said.
Police are seeking Nancy Crue, 42, of Van Nuys, in connection with the slaying, Stewart said. The cause of death appeared to be a gunshot wound from a small caliber weapon.
The fire, which police said appeared to have been arson, was reported by a resident of the apartment building. Damage was slight and limited to one room, Stewart said.
