USX Sells Interests in South Africa: USX Corp. said it has sold all of its equity interests in South African companies. The oil and steel concern withheld the identify of the buyers and the sale prices. Shareholders submitted a resolution earlier this year that USX, through its subsidiary USX Holdings Inc., sell its interests in the racially segregated nation. They withdrew the resolution after management said sale negotiations were under way. The Pittsburgh-based company said it formerly used minerals from South African companies but no longer finds them essential as a supplier. USX had no operations or employees in South Africa.
