Gasoline Supplies Rise: Gasoline stocks rose an unexpected 2.1 million barrels last week, the American Petroleum Institute reported. Gasoline supplies increased to 225.8 million barrels from 223.7 million barrels in the week ended Oct. 6 and were well ahead of year-ago levels of 220.3 million barrels, the trade group’s weekly statistical survey showed. Inventories of crude oil also jumped, by 3.8 million barrels.
